What does this jewelry represent?
Wolves were feared and respected in Viking culture. They were recognized as powerful and volatile forces of nature but respected for their strength and courage.
The most famous Norse wolf is Fenrir, destined to kill Odin himself at Ragnarok. But Odin also had two wolf companions, called Geri and Freki, whose names mean "greedy" and "ravenous". They accompany the All-Father everywhere.
These wolves represent Odin's most challenging personal characteristics. He was famously greedy for knowledge and would do anything to obtain it. He even plucked out his own eye for a sip from the Well of Wisdom. But while these characteristics are challenges for Odin, they are also a great source of strength. His persistence is part of the reason that he is the king of the gods.
This Viking-style arm ring is based on an authentic example that survives from the 10th or 11th century. It is made in Pewter and decorated in a traditional Viking geometric pattern, and ends with two wolf heads. These represent Geri and Freki.
This arm ring reminds the wearer to be self-aware about themselves and find strength in their weaknesses.
