Resin Statuette of Odin on his Throne
💎 Handcrafted Resin statue
💎 Odin, the All-Father and creator deity
💎 Viking god of war, wisdom, wanderers, writing, witchcraft, and Valhalla
💎 Represents the importance of vision and contemplation
This stunning resin statuette shows Odin sitting on his throne, called Hlidskjalf, in Asgard from where he could see across the nine worlds of the Norse cosmos. Only Odin and his wife Frigg had permission to sit in this high seat.
Odin's hall in Asgard was called Valhalla, and his throne was probably located there. Odin, with the help of the Valkyries, would choose the bravest fallen warriors after a battle and take them to Valhalla to dwell. There they would feast until they are called on to fight again alongside the gods in the final battle of Ragnarok.
The Valknut is the symbol of Valhalla, and this appears on the throne above the head of Odin. It represents the bravery that all Vikings must display and its ultimate reward.
Odin holds his spear Gungnir in one hand, and the back of the throne is decorated with an image of Yggdrasil, the world tree, which holds the nine worlds of the Norse cosmos.
Two ravens can be seen flying around the tree. These are Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), the familiars of Odin who acted as further eyes and ears of the god in the world.
The theme of this statue is the importance of observing, being perceptive, and thinking before you act.
