It was part of the Viking psyche that they could face death in battle without fear. That was because there was no greater honor for a Viking warrior than to die bravely on the battlefield. They would be taken to Valhalla, the hall of the god Odin, to live in a warrior's paradise until they were called on again to fight alongside the god of War in the final battle of Ragnarok.

The Valknut, the three interlocking triangle symbol, was the symbol of Valhalla. It is found across the Viking world in association with Odin and the Dead. It is thought that it was used as a marker, to indicate that the deceased was not in Ragnarok. It may also have been used as a kind of spell, to call on the Valkyries to take the fallen spirit to Valhalla. It may have also warded off other spirits that might come for the dead.

As such, the Valknut is a potent symbol of the Viking warrior's bravery, way of life, and commitment to Odin. This stunning sterling silver ring couples the Valknut with the words "Hail Odin" written in the runic symbols of the Vikings. It is a strong reference for any modern-day Viking of their affinity with the way of the warrior.
