What does this jewelry represent?

Hair beads were a popular accessory among the Vikings and are also an essential piece for modern Vikings, worn either in the locks or in the beard.

This sterling silver hair bead is decorated with the Vegvisir symbol. Also known as the Norse Compass, this symbol comes from the 19th-century Icelandic grimoires. Here it is described as a powerful wayfinding symbol. If you use it, you will never lose your way, even if you do not know your destination.

While the Vikings probably used this symbol while navigating the sea, in modern Asatru, it has also been associated with spiritual guidance.
