The ouroboros, a serpent holding its own tail, is a symbol found in various cultures, representing the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth. In Viking culture, this serpent is Jormungandr, a colossal creature that encircles the world and holds its tail in its mouth.

According to the prophecy of Ragnarok, the Norse apocalypse, Jormungandr will release its tail and engage in a final battle with Thor, the god of thunder. In this cataclysmic battle, Thor will defeat Jormungandr but succumb to the serpent's venom, resulting in his own demise. For the Vikings, Jormungandr symbolized the inescapable nature of fate.

The Norse runes, associated with the Norns who wrote the destinies of men on Yggdrasil's bark, were also intertwined with the concept of fate and destiny. This extraordinary ring unites these symbols, featuring a two-headed snake design adorned with the Futhark rune alphabet.
