The Vikings of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden were explorers. They set out for Iceland, Britain, France, and even discovered the New World.
Large numbers of Vikings also ventured eastwards and set themselves up in Russia and the Slavic countries. Many of these Vikings are known as the Kievan-Rus.
There the Vikings developed their own traditions. Rather than celebrating Thor, the god of thunder, as the protector of mankind with his might hammer Mjolnir, they celebrated Perun, the god of thunder, as the protector of mankind with his axe, also called Mjolnir.
The Slavic Vikings wore Perun's axe as a potent symbol of divine protection.
This bronze axe amulet is inspired by genuine examples of the amulet found in Russia and the Slavic countries from the 11th and 12th centuries.
This is the perfect pendent if you trace your heritage through these eastern Vikings.
