This distinctive raven wheel pendant celebrates Odin, the All-Father and the most important deity in the Viking pantheon.
Odin was a complex and multifaceted god.
He was the god of war, and the Vikings called on the favor and protection of Odin before going into battle.
He was also the god of fallen warriors, and warriors that died bravely in battle hoped to be taken to the afterlife of Valhalla, Odin's hall in Asgard.
He was the god of wisdom, famously making great personal sacrifices for knowledge, which he then shared with mankind.
Odin was also the patron of explorers. He did not stay in Asgard, but rather preferred to wander the worlds of the Norse cosmos.
Finally, he was also the god of witchcraft, and was a master of the Nordic art of Seidr magic.
Many symbols based on threes were sacred to Odin, such as the Valknut and the Triskelion.
This three-sided wheel also honors the god.
It is composed of ravens, one of Odin's familiars. They were said to be Odin's eyes and ears in the world, reporting everything they saw.
