What does this jewelry represent ?
Thor was the protector of mankind and the Aesir gods, using his mighty hammer Mjolnir to smash the giants that threatened to bring chaos into their worlds.
It is little surprise that the Mjolnir was the most powerful amulet of protection and strength among the Vikings. More Thor's hammer pendants survive from the Viking period than all other symbols combined.
It is the also Viking symbol that continued to be used consistently well into the Christian period.
This bronze Mjolnir pendant is a replica of a genuine Viking hammer amulet found on Bornholm Island in Denmark. It uses the Jelling artistic style, which dates it to the end of the 10th century.
This is a modern version of a genuine symbol of protection and courage used among the Vikings.
