What does this jewelry represent?
This fine bronze pendant forms a traditional Viking axe, one of the weapons that we most associate with the Vikings.
The axe is embellished with traditional Viking art of the Mammen style, popular in Denmark in the second half of the 10th century.
The lines are formed by the bodies of animals, elongated to the extreme in order to allow them to twist into fantastic shapes.
