Viking Torc Bronze Dragon Ringerike
💎 Autentic Viking style torc necklase in bronze
💎 Status symbol and functional currency
💎 Dragon/Serpent heads reference Norse mythology
💎 Handmade by expert craftsmen
The Vikings used torc-style necklaces like this one in precious metals as status symbols. They indicated both the free status of the individual and the wealth they had gained as a warrior and through trade.
These neck rings were also practical. The evidence suggests that the Vikings would often break chips off precious metal off their torcs to use as currency while traveling.
This particular torc neck ring ends in two dragon heads. Their design is taken from the Ringerike style that was popular in Norway in the 11th century.
These dragon or serpent heads are a reference to Norse mythology. The dragon Noodhogg lives at the base of the tree Yggdrasil. At Ragnarok, he will start to gnaw on its roots, causing the tree to shudder. This will cause the Midgard serpent Jromungandr to emerge from its waters, destabilizing the world and starting the apocalypse.
