Wolves were an important fixture in Norse mythology and represented the most powerful and dangerous forces that exist.
The great wolf Fenrir is destined to kill Odin, the All-Father, himself at Ragnarok, and to run through the cosmos devouring everything before him. His children Skoll and Hati hunt the sun and the moon and will also devour them at Ragnarok.
But Odin also has two companion wolves, Geri (greed) and Freki (ravenous). They represent the most challenging personal characteristics of the god that he must control. But they are also a source of great strength for the god who will do anything for knowledge.
