This is a copper replica of a silver Mjolnir pendant from 10th-century Iceland. It was used as a symbol of protection.
For the Vikings, the Aesir gods represented order and the Jotunn chaos. Thor protected mankind from the chaotic forces of the Jotunn with his hammer Mjolnir, and Fenrir wolf represented the most dangerous of the Jotunn, as he is destined to kill Odin himself at Ragnarok.
This pendant brings these two symbols together with the hammer handle shaped into a wolf's head.
The hammer also looks distinctively like a Christian cross, since it comes from the start of the period of Christianization in Iceland. Symbols were often blurred as the two religions lived alongside one another.
