This is a pendant for those who love all the Viking warrior symbols and don't want to have to choose.
It starts with the ax, a potent symbol of what it was to be a Viking. All Vikings, men and women, warrior and farmer, wore an ax on their belt to use for whatever task was at hand.
This ax head is embellished with an image of the Helm of Awe, and an image of the Valknut.
The Helm of Awe, also called Aegishjalmur, was a magical stave made from the runes. Warriors would draw the symbol on their forehead prior to battle to give them strength and call down the favor of Odin, the Norse god of war.
The Valknut was the symbol of Valhalla, Odin's hall in Asgard where warriors who died bravely in battle were taken. There they would feast and fight until they were called on again to fight in the final battle of Ragnarok.
Together, this ax pendant represents many of the qualities of a Viking warrior, including their bravery, faith, and destiny.
