The berserkers were the most fearsome of all the Viking warriors.

Before battle, they would commune with the spirit of the bear, and work themselves into an intense frenzy.

Some sources suggest that they were also invulnerable while channelling the bear.

Veles was actually a serpent Slavic god, but has often been associated with Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent destined to battle to the death with Thor during Ragnarok.
