What does this jewelry represent?
The Triskelion was a symbol of Odin, the All-Father, and the principal deity of the Viking pantheon.
He is a multifaceted god and represents the complex culture of the Vikings.
He was the god of war, and warriors would make dedications to Odin to ensure his aid in battle. It was also Odin that chose brave fallen warriors to take the Valhalla.
Odin was the god of wisdom, picking out his own eye in order to gain wisdom from the well of Mimir. It was also Odin that learned the secrets of the runes and of poetry, and shared both with mankind.
Odin was also known as the one-eyed wanderer, as he did not stay in Asgard, but rather explored the worlds of the Viking cosmos, much like the Vikings explored the Earth in their longships.
Odin was also a master of Seidr magic and the god of sorcery.
The three arms of the Triskelion represent Odin as warrior, scholar, and wanderer. Together they create a magical symbol associated with Seidr magic.
This Triskelion pendant is embellished with details from the Viking world including the wood of a Viking round shield and the knotwork of Viking art.
