Hiddensee Cross 316L Pendant
💎 Mixes Christian and Old Norse symbology
💎 Handmade by expert craftsmen
This piece is a replica of one of the sixteen gold pieces found in the Hiddensee treasure. Found on a German island in the Baltic Sea, it contains Viking pieces from 970/980 that mix both Old Norse and Christian symbology.
This piece is a hybrid Christain cross and Thor's Hammer symbol, which were common across the Viking world during the time of conversion. Thor's Hammer, Mjolnir, was a symbol of protection and was worn well into the Christian age.
The head of the hammer shows a raven's head. This is another common motif in Viking art and references the ravens of Odin, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory). They would fly out into the world every day and tell the god everything that they saw.
This hybrid piece will appeal to many modern Vikings and comes in a neat VKNG gift bag.
