The Kolovrat was a popular symbol of the sun among Slavic cousins of the Vikings. This symbol represented both the life-giving force of the sun, and the unending nature of the universe as the arms of the sun circle in an endless cycle of birth, death, and renewal.

This symbol is most closely connected with Svarog, the Slavic god of celestial fire and blacksmithing.
