The Vikings settled throughout Europe, taking their culture with them. Viking lineages were strong in Easter Europe and Russia, where we hear of the Kievan Rus among others.
In the east, rather than venerating Thor, they had Perun, another god of thunder and fertility.
Rather than protecting making with a hammer, Perun wielded an axe, also called Mjolnir. Just as hammer Mjolnir pendants were popular protective symbols in Scandinavia, axe Mjolnir pendants were commonly worn in the east.
This axe pendant features the symbol of the Slavik goddess Mara on the blade, who represents the cycle of death and rebirth in nature.
