In the 11th and 12th centuries, as well as thriving in Scandinavia, the Vikings had extensive settlements around Russia and Eastern Europe.
The Vikings here had their own traditions. While the western Vikings celebrated Thor as the god of thunder and the protector of mankind, among the eastern Vikings, this was Perun.
In the west, they wore Thor's hammer as an amulet symbolizing divine protection. In the east, they wore Perun's axe. Both were called Mjolnir.
This bronze axe pendant is a reconstruction of a genuine Perun's axe amulet worn by the eastern Vikings.
It is the perfect piece if you trace your Viking heritage through these eastern warriors.
