💎 Handmade by expert craftsmen
This stunning belt buckle features a dragon in Ringerike style design. This is an artistic style founds in Norway in the 10th century, at the height of the Viking period.
The dragon is perhaps better called a sea serpent, as it represents Jormungandr, the great serpent who lives in the waters surrounding Midgard. It was the gods who placed Jormungandr there as a young serpent, fearing his future power. But in such a great body of water, the serpent was able to grow to an enormous size.
Jormuingandr can encircle the entire world and hold his own tail in his mouth. He will only drop his tail at Ragnarok when he will fight to the death with the god Thor.
Jormungandr represents the things that men and gods fear most. But these fears must be faced eventually. If we ignore them, they tend to grow bigger, stronger, and harder to defeat.
