The shield is a powerful symbol of protection and bravery in Viking culture, representing the warrior's commitment to safeguard their community and their courage in the face of adversity.

Birka, located in modern-day Sweden, was an important Viking trading center. Numerous artifacts, including shields, have been discovered there, offering valuable insights into Viking culture and craftsmanship.

This unique pendant is a replica of a shield found at grave 825 in Birka. Though cast in bronze, it accurately showcases the intricate details of the ancient granulation and filigree technique, originally done in silver. The disc shape with a characteristic central protuberance resembles a shield with its umbo, possibly serving as an amulet for protection.
