The Valknut is one of the most distinctive Viking symbols.
The pattern of three interlocking triangles is found throughout the Viking world, always in association with the dead.
Also known as the knot of dead warriors, it represented the ultimate dream of all Vikings, to die bravely in battle and be taken to Valhalla.
It was this belief in the next life that gave the Vikings such courage in battle.
The Valknut was probably used to indicate that the fallen warrior was now a resident of Valhalla.
It may also have been used as a warding symbol, perhaps to encourage the Valkyries to come to the dead, and prevent any other spirits taking the Viking's soul to Helheim, another of the Viking afterlives.
You can war the Valknut as a symbol of your own Viking courage and willingness to take risks for great rewards with these stylish Valknut sterling silver earrings.
