What does this jewelry represent?
This striking bronze necklace features the Triquetra, a symbol of magic and sorcery in the Celtic and Viking worlds.
The Vikings associated the triquetra with the god Odin, the chief Viking god, the All-Father, and the god of war, wisdom, wanderers, writing, and witchcraft.
Odin was a master of Seidr magic, which was conducted using the Viking runes. Odin hung himself from the World Tree for nine days and nine nights while pierced by his own spear to learn the secrets of the runes, which he then shared with mankind.
The Triquetra symbol is overlain by the Vikings rune Algiz, which is a protective rune. It looks much like the world tree Yggdrasil, either with its might roots or its lofty branches.
