The Valknut is a ubiquitous but enigmatic symbol from the Viking world. It is most commonly found in association with the god Odin, and with the dead. For this reason, it is believed that it was the symbol of Valhalla.

Valhalla is the hall of Odin in Asgard, where Vikings who died bravely in battle were taken to live. There they would feast and fight until they were called on by Odin to fight in the final battle of Ragnarok.

In this way, the Valknut represents a warrior's courage, and also a warrior's destiny.

This stunning silver pendant combines the Valknut with a circle of runes, which were also sacred to Odin.

It was Odin who discovered the secret of the runes by hanging himself from Yggdrasil, the tree of life, for nine days and nine nights. He learned the power that the runes can have over destiny, and shared that power with mankind.
