In Norse symbology, the triskelion of three interlocking horns was a potent symbol of Odin, king of the gods of Asgard and also the god of both war and knowledge.
The three drinking horns aren't a reference to the god's love of a good tipple. They refer to Odin's quest for knowledge, when he sought out the Mead of Poetry.
After undertaking a series of feats to reach the stronghold of the mead, Odin exchanged three nights with the giantess Gunnlöð for three sips of the mead, which were held in three giant drinking horns.
But Odin had tricked the giantess, and drank each horn in a single go, allowing him to imbibe the full store of the Mead of Poetry.
The Mead was thought to contain great wisdom, as it was made from the blood of Kvasir, the wisest man that ever lived. Kvasir was created from the spittle of the Aesir and the Vanir gods, which they mingled as part of their truce pact at the end of their war.
But two dwarves, Fjalar and Galar, killed Kvasir and mixed his blood with honey to make the mead.
For the Vikings, the horn triskelion represented wisdom, but also doing what it takes to get what you want in life.
Thus, it was an important symbol of both intelligence and fortitude. This bronze triskelion ring can help channel these qualities into your life.
