The Lindby Statuette is a significant artifact in Viking culture. It is believed to depict Odin, the supreme deity in Norse mythology, renowned for his wisdom and knowledge. He is also associated with healing, death, royalty, the gallows, war, victory, sorcery, poetry, and the runic alphabet.

The figure is in a seated position, wearing a conical headdress, and notably, one of his eyes appears closed. This feature is significant as, according to Norse mythology, Odin sacrificed his left eye in his quest for wisdom. This self-inflicted sacrifice led to his epithets Bileygr ("one-eyed") and Báleygr ("missing eye"), and he was commonly represented with this characteristic feature.
