What does this jewelry represent?
All Vikings aspired to be great warriors. There was no higher honor in Viking society. Thor, the god of Thunder, represented the ideal Viking warrior. Odin, the chief god and god of war, chose only the bravest fallen warriors to join him in Valhalla.
Warriors were venerated in Viking soceity and lived by a philosophy of facing their fears, giving their all and leaving nothing on the table.
This warrior pendant reflects those values and is a replica of a silver warrior pendant found at Klahammar, Selaön, Södermanlan, Sweden, which dates to the 8th-10th centuries. The warrior is dressed in expensive clothes, that only a succeddful fighter and raider could afford, and he carries an expensive sword and bearded war axe.
